Washington, DC, 28 August 2000 ¾ The Utility PhotoVoltaic Group (UPVG), a non-profit association dedicated to promoting the use of solar electricity, invites the public to attend "Public Day," a free afternoon educational program on renewable energy. Public Day will take place at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel at 202 East Pratt Street, Baltimore, Maryland on Monday, October 2, 2000 from noon until 6:00 PM. The Public Day program is a part of the UPVG's annual Utility PhotoVoltaic Experience conference (UPEx); this year's theme is "Solar Power: the Customer's Choice."
The Public Day program will consist of exhibits, lectures, demonstrations and discussions on electric deregulation in Maryland and how Marylanders can make renewable energy a part of their daily lives. Featured speakers include Maryland Delegate Sandy Rosenberg. Public Day will also feature solar demonstrations, the highlights of the 7th Annual National High School Student Solar Design Contest, a solar marketplace exhibition, information booths, and an ice cream social (limited to the first 300 participants). Everyone is welcome, and everyone from school children to seniors can expect to have a good time and learn about clean, safe solar energy.
