Solar Eclipse Safari 2002 Tour Available From Rico Tours

Austin, Texas – February 11, 2002 – Rico Tours of Austin, Texas announces an African Safari tour to view a total solar eclipse while experiencing the great animals of Africa. On Wednesday, December 4, 2002 Southern Africa will have its second total solar eclipse of the new millennium and a small group traveling with Rico Tours will experience this incredible event from the Chobe National Park in Botswana Africa.

This premier seventeen-day all-inclusive tour includes safaris in Kenya and Botswana, a stop on the equator, Victoria Falls tour as well as horseback safaris and river cruises. Accommodations are in luxury tented and high end lodges. The tour also includes dinner with an astrological expert including a telescopic view of the night's sky the evening before the eclipse. Optional activities include hot air balloon rides over the Mara and fishing at Rusinga Island in Lake Victoria.

"A total solar eclipse is one of the most captivating natural phenomena on this planet", says Leigh Ann Cloutier, CTC, owner of Rico Tours and the leader for the Solar Eclipse Safari 2002 Tour. "Combining a total solar eclipse with the splendors of Africa is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. We have made arrangements to experience the eclipse from the Chobe National Park because it is a preferable choice for the December 4th event. We will be staying in wonderful accommodations and there will be an educational element as part of our expedition. This is an amazing opportunity for anyone who has been considering an African tour."

It will be fifteen years (August 21, 2017) before a total eclipse is visible from North America and four years before there is another easily accessible eclipse. A solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun blocking out the Sun's light and casting a shadow on the Earth's surface. A total eclipse is visible only from within a narrow corridor that traverses an area and usually lasts just a few minutes.

Rico Tours, which specializes in unique travel experiences and adventure tours has been offering solar eclipse tour to its clientele for several years. In the past, Rico Tours has arranged for groups and individuals to experience solar eclipses in Zimbabwe, Turkey, Costa Rica, Curacao, and Kona Hawaii. The Solar Eclipse Safari 2002 all-inclusive tour costs $6775 per person based on double occupancy including international air from Chicago and inter Africa air.
